‘Jimbelunga’ Nursing Home for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders, Queensland

Tim was asked to create a sustainable, ‘concept’, sketch design for the new bedroom wings of a Nursing Home in southern Queensland.

The principles being put forward at the earliest stage of the design process included:

– maximising fresh air / natural ventilation flows,

– excellent daylight access,

– creating cool, shaded verandas,

– high-thermal-efficiency green roofs, and

– building integrated photovoltaïc panels (BIPV).

The client proceeded on this basis.
